Depending on the level of fitness you already have, you will notice that it won't take long to get used to cycling regularly. The body adapts very easily to cycling.

Noticeable effects

Health effects you will notice: you will lose weight and feel fitter, have more energy. As you use more energy, you can eat more and you don't have to fuzz about it.

Long-term effects

Health effects 'under the hood': your cardio-vascular health will improve enormously. Your brain function responds well to the greater flow of blood, cyclists are reported to have better brains and less problems when they get older. Your psychological feeling of well being improves, less stress and anxiety. Cycling also reduces cancer risk, with one exception: upright bikers could have an increased prostrate cancer risk, for obvious reasons this is probably not the case with recumbents.
